Optex Mixing & Melt Barrier Screws

Optex’ principal engineers have designed several hundred feedscrews that are running today in some of the highest output thinnest gauge flat die production operations in the world. Since our inception Optex has provided screw design and manufacturing services for converters and OEM’s that recognize a custom screw design for the polymers processed and the application specific requirements of their process will pay bottom line returns for the life of the screw. Many feedscrews today out last the product life they are designed for and many times the cost of 24 hours of off spec production will pay for the cost of a new feedscrew. Optex will not provide an “off the shelf design” for a “generic application”. In our specialized business environment today there is no such thing. We will only provide a screw design when we fully understand the detailed material properties and rheologies to be processed and the specific process targets and requirements. We will thoroughly review and discuss the design limits and processing characteristics of our design for your application before we finalize the design and begin manufacture.

We manufacture only from the highest quality certified steels using Colmomoy, Xaloy, and Wexco alloys to provide screw and barrel wear surfaces with the appropriate compatibility and long life wear and corrosion protection characteristics for your application.
